The Annual Lady Julia French Quiz was instituted by the Foundation in collaboration with Alliance Francaise and the Ghana Education Service in 2013 and was implemented in 2014. This was seen as an important initiative due to the need to improve upon the teaching and learning of the French language which is seen as the second international language in the world. Regional competitions were organized in Ashanti, Central, Western and Greater Accra to select students for a final National competition in Kumasi.
The Annual Lady Julia French Quiz aimed at promoting and developing the habit of speaking French language in Ghana is done in collaboration with all Regional CREF representatives, the Alliance Francaise Ghana and the Ghana Education Service nationwide every year and this year’s event was scheduled for 13th March, 2015. Participating schools were selected from 10 schools across the Ashanti region with one participant from each school. The final event was set for 13th March, 2015.With an audience of 1200 from 16 schools including representatives from the participating schools the selected participants were taken through both written and oral tests to select the three top winners. The winner was awarded a Samsung tablet, 20 exercise books and a certificate whiles the runner ups had an electronic dictionary with French language applications, 15 exercise books, a kindle with French eBooks, 10 exercise books and a certificate respectively.
All other participants were presented with five exercise books and a certificate. This event was replicated in all the other nine (9) regions in Ghana with the same prizes as stated above for both winners and participants.
