The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation in collaboration with Ghana Education Service under the patronage of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Her Royal Highness Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of Asantehene have over the years continued to support and motivate teachers and educational workers through the Otumfuo Teachers and Educational Workers Awards (OTEWA).
OTEWA is a program in which teachers who sacrifice to perform their duties in under privileged and deprived areas where there are no electricity, bad roads, and poor drinking water are honored to encourage them and also motivate many others who refuse posting. As part of the Foundation’s mandate to promote education, it has over the years organized annual award schemes for educational workers and teachers in remote areas as a way of motivating and appreciating them for their dedication and hard work. The 6th Otumfuo Teachers Awards was recently held on Friday, 29th November, 2019 at the Serwaa Ampem Park, Manhyia Palace. At the event, 130 teachers and educational workers were awarded from all the 16 regions in Ghana. Awardees were selected through the following criteria;
Teachers should have more than 5 years’ experience of committed service, Teachers from primary Schools and Teachers from one of the deprived communities in all the regions in Ghana. During the occasion, selected and approved teachers and educational workers received a Royal Handshake from His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene to honor them and awarded them with Laptops and accessories, power bank, educational materials, certificate and Cash.
